When they are to active follow me to much in my kitchen. Or vocalization to much. I do play but sometimes I cook and I don’t want them in my kitchen. I cook in early morning or clean I can’t always pay attention to them. But they will have stress with painting recently I had my countertops done one of my got upset when the super picked up my microwave made a noise ran than he was okay. They will be putting up with people coming in and out of unit. I do play with them sometimes but I have been busy solving problems or redoing my unit. Usually I stay home sometimes when I get home they will sleep and I like that.
It sounds like you're juggling a lot right now—with renovations, noise, and people in and out—so it makes total sense that your cats are picking up on that. You're absolutely right: cats can be extra clingy or vocal when they’re unsure or their environment changes. And even if you're home a lot, those small disruptions (like a microwave being moved or new people in their space) can feel huge to them.
It’s great that you're already playing with them when you can—that consistency, even in short bursts, goes a long way. If the kitchen is your no-cat zone while cooking, maybe having a cozy perch nearby (but outside that boundary) could give them a sense of closeness without being underfoot.
You're doing a good job, Jean. Renovations are temporary—and your cats are lucky to have someone who cares this much through the chaos. Keep showing up for them in the ways you can. Sometimes even a calm voice and a check-in after the noise dies down can mean the world to them. 💛
What’s one thing your cat does that makes you wonder if they’re stressed—or just being a cat? Let’s talk in the comments.👇
