Watch late try to watch more later I want to ask a question about my cat Pecan he 16 gray tabby why does he meow so much. He also jumps. On my counter and looks for food. I have dealt with pet communication people before at the cat show . Pecan seems to want a lot of attention from me. Sometimes I want to be alone and do things. My cats seem to want more attention whenever I go outside than I’m tired .
Hi Jean! Thanks so much for watching, and for sharing about Pecan. Sixteen is such a special age. From what you’ve shared, it sounds like Pecan is very connected to you and may be expressing some big feelings, especially around wanting connection and possibly even emotional reassurance.
Sometimes when our animals vocalize more, seek food, or try to be physically closer to us (like jumping on counters), it’s not just about food or attention it can be their way of asking, “Are you present with me?” or “Can we reconnect?” Especially with older animals, their needs can shift subtly into more emotional and energetic realms.
You mentioned that he seems to want more attention when you go outside or when you're tired and that actually makes a lot of sense energetically. Animals often sense shifts in our availability or mood, and they sometimes try to ground us when we're overwhelmed or stretched thin.
I totally hear you that sometimes you just need space to be alone. That’s okay and it’s important to honor your own needs too. What can help is finding small moments where you’re intentionally present with him, even just for a couple of minutes. That focused energy can go a long way for both of you.
Yes I understand that I am fully aware of that need for attention I always tell My cats that will have time to see the sunrise and then I will be more able to show them attention in a better ways. When I’m tired like today I did a lot more than usual, than I’m not good at showing affection to anyone.
