I’m feeding my two senior cats gently cooked turkey and beef from Evermore Pet Food and gently cooked rabbit from Goodness Gracious. I may try their pollock, to give them variety. They absolutely love this food!

I just ordered the new cultured raw goat milk from Allprovide and I’m super excited to try it.

I’ll also try sardines.

Love your podcasts, Substack, and your new Daily Pawprint, Scott. Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much, Ilse! That sounds like an amazing rotation—gently cooked rabbit and cultured raw goat milk? Your cats are living the dream 😻 I’ve heard good things about Evermore and Goodness Gracious—let me know how the pollock goes!

And big thanks for the kind words about the podcast and the Daily Pawprint (currently taking a break from the pawprint)—it means a lot. Keep me posted on how your cats do with the sardines too 🐾

Allprovide now has goats milk for cats and dogs!

Yes! I just saw that—so cool that Allprovide is offering goat milk now. Such a great option for gut health and hydration. Have you tried it yet with your crew?

I tried powdered goats milk years ago and they didn’t go for it-but I think that actual goat milk may go over better given the criteria that they have when it comes to food. Lol

Im feeding a pretty good food that @MelissaSherman recommended. I tried sardines too, thinking how easy an upgrade could this be? Tails would not touch it. And he always acts offended. Like I am trying to damage him somehow. He regularly eats the chicken version of his canned food with an occasional tuna topper. But he rejected those toppers the first time I tried them.

Im going to see if I can get cans in different meat recipes from his favorite brand and try a spoon full. He might do it if I use it as a topper or a treat and it would be far more cost effective than the dollar a bag toppers. Will cats actually eat whole meals of different recipe choices at different meals? Im very skeptical about Tails ever complying. He is a creature that loves his routine and hates sudden changes like that. Thanks for all the new ideas.

Haha Joyce, I can totally picture Tails giving you that “how dare you” look! 😼 I’ve been there too—some cats really are creatures of habit, and it can feel like any change is a personal insult.

I love your idea of testing small spoonfuls from different recipes of the same brand. That’s a smart and gentle way to add variety without rocking his world too much. Some cats absolutely will eat different proteins at different meals, but you’re right—it depends on the cat! Sometimes it’s a slow dance, not a quick switch.

Keep me posted—I always love hearing what Tails is up to (even when he’s being a diva). And thanks for always sharing so honestly. 🐾
