About 30 years ago, Adrienne from the Two Crazy Cat Ladies had just $40 to her name when her cat, Mama Girl, experienced a life-threatening emergency after giving birth to five kittens.
The veterinary team at the University of Tennessee saved Mama Girl’s life, even though Adrienne couldn’t afford the care she needed.
It’s an experience she’s never forgotten.
Yesterday evening, Jae and Adrienne surprised me with a beautiful 53-second video sharing that story and explaining why they’re supporting Tails on Trails this year.
Their story is exactly why I created the Nomar & Mia Compassion Endowment at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine.
I know what it’s like to face difficult decisions when a beloved cat needs medical care. And I want to help make sure that more families have access to emergency veterinary treatment when they need it most.
But there’s an important piece of this that I want you to understand.
The endowment can’t begin helping families until we reach our $25,000 funding goal.
Our fundraising goal for this year’s Tails on Trails is $10,000. Every dollar raised will help us move closer to fully funding the Nomar & Mia Compassion Endowment so it can begin helping families facing emergency veterinary expenses.
That’s why every registration and donation matters.
On Saturday, October 24, we’re gathering at Baker Creek Preserve in Knoxville, Tennessee, for a 3-mile tribute hike to celebrate the animals we’ve loved and help other pets and their families.
And you don’t have to live anywhere near Knoxville to participate.
You can hike 3 miles from wherever you are, in honor of a pet you love or one you’ve lost. Or, if hiking isn’t your thing, you can simply make a donation.
We’re just 11 days away, and I’m doing everything I can to make this year’s hike a success.
If you can join us, donate, or even just share this video with another cat lover, I’d be incredibly grateful.
And a very special thank-you to Jae and Adrienne for sharing Mama Girl’s story and for their support of Tails on Trails.
With gratitude,
Scott
